SsangYong EV Background

SsangYong might be a relative newcomer to the EV market, having launched its first battery-powered vehicle in 2022, but this company has a long tradition in the European market. Local buyers first heard this unusual name in the early 90s, and since then, SsangYong has been a steady supplier of rugged SUVs and pickup trucks, which offer maximum usability and practicality but at affordable prices. Following the new market trends and zero-emission initiative, this South Korean company bravely stepped towards battery-powered SUVs with two distinctive models. At Voldt, we are always supportive and developed a line of certified charging cables for current SsangYong EV models.

SsangYong EV Models

The first battery-powered model from this company arrived in 2022 in the form of Korando e-Motion. This was the electric version of the Korando SUV, packed with advanced technology and presented in a modernly-designed package. True to our company values, the Korando e-Motion offers great value for the money and comes equipped with modern features. However, we went all in with the introduction of the most recent model, the KGM Torres EVX. This is not only a bigger and more upscale model, but it also boasts a more powerful drive train, advanced interior design, and aggressive exterior lines. We have announced more battery-powered models in the future, and we will keep supplying them with our quality charging cables. Don't be confused about the name; KGM Torress EVX is still a SsangYong product; the brand just decided to market it under the parent company's name.

SsangYong EV Technology

The Korando e-Motion is an entry-level SsangYong electric model with a battery capacity of 61.5 kW. It is delivered with a front-mounted electric motor powering the front wheels. The manufacturer's suggested range is up to 290 km, which is a decent number. The Korando e-Motion supports AC and DC charging with 6.6 kW and 74 kW rates. The KGM Torres EVX is offered in two trim levels (K30 and K40) but with the same technology. Since it is a bigger SUV, it has a lithium iron phosphate battery with a 73.4 kWh capacity. The range is up to 370 km, and although it looks rugged, this model is equipped only with front-wheel-drive. Due to a more extensive and modern battery pack, the KGM Torres EVX can be charged through AC and DC methods with faster charging rates of 11 kW and 120 kW, respectively. We at Voldt are sure we can slightly reduce charging times using our certified charging cables. Shuko and Commando sockets are available.
